The Viber desktop application for Linux has been updated, now it looks different and knows more about message security.
On one side of Skype, on the other, WhatsApp-Viber combines traditional IP telephony features, encrypted messages, emojis and stickers.
Like WhatsApp, Viber uses a mobile phone number as an “account”, rather than the usual login (which means that if you do not have a mobile device, you will not be able to use it).
But developers may not be upset; the service has more than 664 million users worldwide – an impressive statistic.
What’s new in Viber 6.0.1 Full encryption
Viber 6.0. x implements full encryption, which allows you to securely communicate through this service.
“Our users can confidently use Viber without worrying that someone else can read their messages – whether it’s a personal or group conversation, a call, an app on a computer, mobile phone or tablet, ” the company claims.
“In addition, we have made it so that each user receives an individual cryptographic key that is tied to his or her device.”
To communicate safely, you need to use the latest version of Viber (you are reading about it). If you see a gray lock, it means that your dialog is protected. If there is no lock, then your interlocutor probably needs to update the app version.
Want to share contact information about a person with a friend? Then you’ll love what Viber has implemented – ” a cool way to simply share contacts, files, and multimedia between chats!”.
Transfer and put
Now you can drag and drop images, videos, and files directly into the chat window to send them to your contact.
