The Debian project is pleased to announce the eighth update of its stable distribution Debian 9 (codenamed Stretch). This release mainly adds corrections for security problems as well as making a few corrections to serious problems.
This is stated on the official website of the Debian project.
Please note that this release is a new version of Debian 9, and only updates some of the included packages. After installing the packages can be updated to the current versions using a modern Debian mirror.
Those who frequently install updates from security.debian.org don’t have to update many packages and most updates included in this release.
New installation images will be available soon at the regular locations on the official website.
To upgrade your previous versions of Debian, just run the command line:
# apt update && apt full-upgrade
Editorial: frequent releases of Debian (remember, not so long ago released version 9.7) are the confirmation that Debian 10 “Buster” already in the final stages of development. That is, we will soon see a really new release!
