How to install Dr Web on Ubuntu

Step 1. Add repository

The software company Dr. Web for Linux is in a special repository developers. When we add it to your system, then using a standard package Manager will be able to install the desired antivirus, the dependencies are automatically resolved.

All further commands must be run as administrator. For this you need to either use the command change user su, or resort to the command run as another user sudo.

Since we will be working with terminal in Ubuntu, let’s first run it. For this we can use the main operating system menu or shortcut, namely Ctrl + Alt + T.

Start adding the repository. In this case, it is protected using a digital signature. Import the key using the following command:

wget -O - | apt-key add -

The next step for the repository you must add it to the file /etc/apt/sources.list. To do this, enter one more command:

sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list

# deb 11.1 non-free

Step 3. Antivirus settings

Our software is almost ready to go, however, before we proceed, let’s make a few important settings:

Run the program and produce its activation. Enter the license key in the designated field on the screenshot and click the activate button.

Also the program can be run as a trial version for 30 days.

Another important point is the updating of antivirus signatures. The process should start automatically after opening the program, but if not, go to the point marked in the screenshot.

Let’s do a full scan. In fact, before the antivirus was added to the system, it can lie dormant viruses. Go to the tab Scanner.

Here we need to choose full scan. Fast mode does not guarantee the detection of all threats.
