Open Markup Editor (OME) is an extensible Electron (Node.js) / GTK visual Markdown editor.

Markdown — presented in 2004 year, the lightweight markup languagecreated with the goal of writing the most readable and easy to edit text, but suitable for conversion to languages for advanced publications (HTML, Rich Text and others). Markdown is not a replacement for HTML, its syntax is limited and meets only a small subset of HTML.

OME (Open Markup Editor) is a simple, two-window user interface (the input window and the window “live” preview), the number of control elements and menus the minimum possible, there are several themes (more than fifty), you can add your own.

A key feature of Open Markup Editor is modularity, use NPM modules (there are four types packages modules: Markup Packs, Render Packs, Editor Packs and Extension Packs), supports multiple markup languages and fully customizable rendering HTML.

In addition to the standard Markdownsyntax Open Markup Editor supports adding charts, TeX formulas, images (standard and as a background), Emoji (ideogram or an emoticon) , and other media content. Preview OME has two modes of operation, normal mode (HTML-view) and mode horizontal binning document, the division of the empty rows based on format GitHub Flavored Markdown.

Open Markup Editor can run in windowed and full screen mode, control is via mouse and/or keyboard combinations (standard, emacs-like, sublime-like and vim-like).
