Claws Mail is a quick and easy C (si) / GTK graphical email client (email client).
Project Claws Mail started in April 2001 year, initially, the client called Sylpheed-Claws and the main goal of the project was testing new features for the email client Sylpheed, so as not to affect the stability of the main project.
The developers of Sylpheed-Claws regularly synchronized code with Sylpheed and author of the customer’s Hiroyuki Yamamoto (Hiroyuki Yamamoto) used a new, any functions in your client. In November 2006 year (after the transition from GTK1 to GTK2) , the project changed its name to Claws Mail and began to develop independently.
Claws Mail is typical of most e-mail clients user interface and many settings. When you first run the “Configuration Wizard” allows you to specify the initial (basic) settings of the mail client.
Claws Mail has a modular architecture, modules (plugins) you can connect and disconnect to provide the necessary functionality. There are standard plug-ins (modules) supplied with the client, you can download additional plugins from the project site and activate them in appropriate interface.
Mail client Claws Mail supports network protocols POP, SMTP, IMAP, NNTP and SSL, GnuPG , encryption of messages supported by the Protocol LDAP (extensible access Protocol directories), spell check and most of the existing encodings.
Claws Mail has low system requirements, while developing a lot of focus on performance and stability, supports multi-threading, which allows you to freely handle folders with a large number of letters, with no loss of performance. To control can use mouse and/or keyboard shortcuts (fully customizable).
