Atril is a universal C++ / GTK GUI application for viewing electronic documents in many formats. Modification of Evince, developed as part of the desktop environment MATE (Mate Desktop Environment).
Evince is an application for viewing PDF documents, developed in 2004 as a fork of Gpdf and September 2005 year (after the release of GNOME 2.12, 7) the application was included in the project GNOME.
Atril is simple, and partially customizable user interface, fully integrated into the working environment MATE, but no problem can be used in other desktop environments (e.g. Xfce).
Atril is intended for viewing electronic documents in various formats such as PDF (Portable Document Format), Postscript, TIFF, DVI, DjVu (DjVuLibre is used), CBR, XPS and other (if relevant applications and libraries). For formats PDF and DVI support the selection of text and copy it to the clipboard. To work with PDF documents use Poppler (a library of rendering PDF files).
Atril displays thumbnails of pages for easier navigation when viewing large documents, supported zoom and rotate pages, one-page and two-page viewing. There is a search function text search document, displaying the number of search results, highlighting them on the page, there is a function “night” viewing (invert colors).
Evince supports windowed and full screen mode, caching pages, saving the last viewed page and add pages to “bookmarks“. You can view encrypted documents (PDF format), retrieval from text documents and images (PNG, JPG, TIFF, ISO, and BMP), control is via mouse and/or keyboard shortcuts.
