XScavenger (SdlScavenger) — dimensional C (si) / SDL platformer with puzzle elements inspired by the game Lode Runner (Lode-runner-like platform game for X).
Lode Runner — platformer with puzzle elements, the game was first released in 1983 year for 8bit and 16bit computers (ZX Spectrum, IBM PC, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Atari, etc). The player controls a little guy who must collect all the gold lying on the level and avoid encounters with robots.
The main hero of the game is “Monarchic” (Scavenger) to run on level platforms and avoiding encounters with enemies. The gameplay is virtually identical to the existing Lode Runner. The player sees the entire level, consisting of brick platforms, ladders, and strained ropes, which can also move around holding hands.
The character XScavenger (as in character of Lode Runner) no way to kill enemies, but it can provide them with traps, digging holes in the brick floor, which hold randomly moving enemies for a while, if pit manages to “grow” the enemy “dies” and “resurrects” at the top of the level.
The character can without the consequences falling from any height, but you can’t jump to reach hidden or inaccessible from the lower platform items it is possible to dig a hole. After the required number of objects in the level are collected, the top will be one or two staircases which take you to the next level.
SdlScavenger is an improved and extended version of the original game XScavenger, there are about two hundred levels that as you progress become more complex, requiring increasingly sophisticated strategies to solve puzzles by collecting items, bypass the enemies and lure them into traps.
SdlScavenger and XScavenger have low system requirements, there are sound effects and demonstration mode, a built-in “level Editor” and “Editor texture“, game controls and editors is carried out with the keyboard.
