XorCurses — console C (si) / Ncurses (Curses) a puzzle game created based on the game XOR.
XOR is a puzzle game with no additional or arcade game elements created by Astral Software in 1987 year to run on the then popular 8-bit home computers, Atari ST, Amiga, Acorn Electron, Amstrad CPC, BBC Micro, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum.
XorCurses almost completely recreates the gameplay XOR, special attention is paid to the behavior of objects of the original game. In some ways the graphics of the game is made more simplified than it was in 8-bit computers as it uses ASCII characters instead of pixel graphics (pixel-art).
In the game XorCurses have to wander through a series of mazes (levels), collecting all the blue mask and look for the exit. The player controls two shields, Magus and Questormoved horizontally and vertically, you can at any time switch between them.
The first few levels go quite simple, but as you progress through the levels is much more complicated. At all levels to complete you must use both shield. Some levels require to complete destroy (sacrifice) one of the shields, it is possible to bury or destroy.
XorCurses includes fifteen levels (the original game), the player has not imposed any restrictions, and do not give anything for agility and coordination. The game provides any amount of time to determine ways to solve the puzzle. Logic, read the strategy and tactics are the guarantee of successful solving.
In the maze there will be various obstacles: force field of two types, independently moving fish and chickens, two types of bombs, dolls and sad mask. For each obstacle has its own ways of overcoming (destruction, blocking, etc). In the game you can turn off the “lighting maze“, displays the total number and the number of collected masks at.
XorCurses has detailed documentation (you can call at any time), to explore the gameplay can be run step-by-step “playback Mode“, you can save and play your own game. To continue with playback of the stored copies of the completed levels to re-block the passage to control using a keyboard.
