whowatch — console C (si) / Ncurses TUI (glibc) utility for monitoring processes and users in real time (real time).
whowatch shows the total number of users and number of users currently logged into the system for each type of connection (users, local, telnet, ssh, and others). The functionality of the utility can be described as an interactive combination utilities ps, pstree, lsof, w, finger and kill.
whowatch is easy to use by selecting a user you can open and navigate the tree to view details of the selected process (username, host, connection type, etc).
For the selected process whowatch allows you to send a signal to stop the process (SIGINT) and immediate termination signal (SIGKILL) in a simple way, it is possible to search through the list of processes.
whowatch has very simple API (application programming interface) for writing plugins, there are three types of Windows (system, process and user). Plugins give you flexibility, especially if you want specific information about a selected process, during startup, you can load a maximum of three plug-in.
whowatch reads the information from standard sources (/var/log/wtmp, /var/run/utmp and /proc), without access to their “to read” functionality utility will be limited, and in some cases will not start at all.
