tlocate

tlocate is a small command-line utility to search files on the file system. Utility is a rewritten version of mlocate (new implementation of the classic version of locate/updatedb)using a text file (/etc/tlocate.conf) instead of the database and for updates not using a separate command (tlocate -u instead of updatedb).

tlocate uses very similar with mlocate configuration file and uses a similar syntax compared to the original version allows you to search multiple regular expressions can be almost arbitrarily filter results by attribute and/or type (available filters), allows you to view changes to the data file after the last changes, and much more… Utility uses some of the capabilities of GNU Coreutils (coreutils)to update the data file requires administrator privileges (root).
