MusicBrainz Picard is a program that allows you to automatically identify the audio-recording and semi-automatically add tags to audio files.
Project MusicBrainz — data about the music
The program developed by MusicBrainz Foundation. One of the projects of the company, is a project of the same name — MusicBrainz.
The MusicBrainz project aims to create an open database with data about music. Database does not contain the music itself. It contains information about music (metadata) — singers, songwriters, track names, album, length, tracks, album art and so on.
Features of the program MusicBrainz Picard
The program MusicBrainz Picard reads the audio files and compares available data with data in the database. Based on the comparison, the program selects the appropriate metadata for the file. Thus you can add new information to the records in an automatic or semi-automatic mode.
Picard can add not only basic tags, such as album name, track name, date of release, but also the lists of performers and their instruments.
If file non-existent metadata, the program can use the AcoustID to determine which track is in the file (this is the way to identify files and obtain special entry identifier). Comparing the AcoustID ID with the corresponding record in the MusicBrainz database, the program receives information about the file.
Also Picard allows you to edit tags from audio files manually.
Supported the extension of functionality using plugins. Additional plugins can be downloaded from the official website of the program.
