KGoldrunner

KGoldrunner — quick C (si) / Qt / KDE platform game, arcade puzzle game created based on the game Lode Runner. The game is part of KDE (The KDE Games).

Lode Runner — platformer with puzzle elements, the game was first released in 1983 year for 8bit and 16bit computers (ZX Spectrum, IBM PC, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Atari, etc). The player controls a little guy who must collect all the gold lying on the level and avoid encounters with robots.

KGoldrunner is typical of most KDE applications, partly customizable user interface (edit, move and disable the toolbar). The gameplay is virtually identical to the existing Lode Runner, a character in the game to run on the platforms, whilst avoiding the enemies and collecting gold nuggets.

The player sees the entire level, consisting of brick platforms, ladders, and strained ropes, which can also move around holding hands. The character has no way to kill enemies (as in character of Lode Runner), but it can make holes in the brick floor to create traps that retain randomly moving enemies for a while, if pit manages to “grow” the enemy “dies” and “resurrects” at the top of the level.

The character can without the consequences falling from any height, but you can’t jump to reach hidden or inaccessible from the lower platform items it is possible to dig a hole. After the required number of objects in the level are collected, the top will be one or two staircases which take you to the next level.

KGoldrunner has a classic and private modes of enemies in native mode, the enemies are more intelligent and therefore more difficult to deceive than the classic. There are hundreds of levels as you progress is much more complicated, therefore requiring more sophisticated strategy to solve the puzzles by collecting items, to bypass the enemies and luring them into traps.

KGoldrunner has small system requirements, there are sound effects, the level selected can be run in “Demo mode“, a built-in “level Editor“, the game can be saved and controlled via mouse and keyboard shortcuts (fully customizable).
