jPicEdt is an extensible Java (Java Swing) vector graphics editor for LaTeX, PSTricks and TikZ.
LaTeX is a popular set of macrodactylini (the macro package) of the computer typesetting system TeX, which makes it easier to set complex documents. The package allows you to automate many of the tasks of typing and preparation of articles, besides the basic set, there are many expansion packs (thanks to the system’s capabilities is virtually unlimited).
PSTricks is a set of macros allowing to insert images PS (PostScript) code directly in TeX and LaTeX. For creating graphics available a rich set of commands and extensions allowing for drawing circuit diagrams, barcodes, graphs, charts, and other…
PGF (Portable Graphics Format) a low level language for creating vector graphics TikZ recursive acronym for “TikZ ist kein Zeichenprogramm” (TikZ German is not a drawing program”) is a set of macros (a macro, a sequence of actions, template) more high-level that use PGF. Package TikZ is quite a lot of solutions allowing to obtain high-quality charts and graphs, but it is quite difficult to assimilate although it has extensive documentation.
Interface jPicEdt modular, in the main window opens relocatable and expandable “Board” for drawing, settings and tools, containing an extensive library of graphics primitives at a high level.
jPicEdt can be used to generate a drawing “from scratch“, generation and analysis of the finished files of most popular formats. Supported the expansion of fragments of images (there is a built-in library) and macros (written in Beanshell). Built-in support for text LaTeX facilitates the inclusion of mathematical formulas in the image.
jPicEdt can be easily extended and configured using scripts (settings are saved in the file ~/.jpicedt/preferences)allows you to add arbitrary commands TeX, has all of the standard graphics editing tools such as rotation, mirroring, resizing, moving and so on…
You can run jPicEdt from any encoding, so the reactor allows the use to insert the text in any language (including Russian). Unfinished drawing can be saved in their own specific editor format, which is XML file to a LaTeX file.
