- A free utility to work with disk images www.balena.io/etcher/

Prepare your SD card to work with Chrome OS
The downloaded file system image is compressed in XZ format so you will need to unzip it using a suitable tool. The best solution for Windows is 7-zip, while Linux systems for this purpose have built-in solutions.
The next step, we need to burn the image to your SD card. The easiest way is to use Etcher which I advised in the last paragraph. It will also format your SD card. Download it, install and run. And then, just click “Select image” to select image Chromium OS.
Follow the instructions in the picture above, make sure the Etcher sees your card. If not, try remove the card and re-insert into the card reader, wait until the Etcher will see it.
Click Flash to write the data. A few minutes later, the Chrome OS will be installed on your micro SD card and ready to install.
Installing Chrome OS on Raspberry Pi
After safe removal from the computer the card is completely ready to install on the Raspberry Pi.
The first installation can take some time. After installation, the system will offer you to perform some steps to further customize.
