dblatex — console Python / TexLive utility converts documents to DocBook (SGML / XML) documents in formats DVI (TeX), PostScript and PDF (Portable Document Format).
DocBook — language format, a subset of languages SGML and XML– based text parsing of large works (books, manuals, technical documentation, etc.). The language allows to separate the text about the structure and design, this is particularly useful when the collective work on large documents.
Conversion of documents dblatex carries through intermediate translation to LaTeX / ConTeXt (as a first process), also supported the conversion to MathML (a markup language based on XML to provide mathematical symbols and formulas in documents of the WWW).
dblatex started as a modification (clone) utility DB2LaTeX (DocBook to LaTeX XSL stylesheets) ceased development in 2004 year, but since then, the utility functional (original dbcontext) has significantly expanded and actively developed by the author of the main branch.
